Rose Croix helps boost the 2012 Festival Funds

Following the Enthronement of Tony Morrell as Most Wise Sovereign by Meeting of St. Boniface of Devonshire Chapter No 1183 meeting on 30th April held at the Langstone Cliff Hotel the Inspector General for the District of Devonshire of Rose Croix, V.Ill.Bro. M. St. J. French, presented a cheque of £2,000 to Bill Daw, the chairman of the 2012 Festival Committee as a contribution to the Province of Devonshire Festival.  This brought the amount donated by the District to £7,473 with other Chapters in the District having donated £6,171 making a superb total of £13,644 from the members of Rose Croix..

What the Dickens? A presentation at The St. Thomas Lodge No 4198

…………Just having the knowledge that someone out there cares about my children’s future has already made such a difference to our lives, particularly after such an upsetting time for our family.

the closing paragraph of a letter which W.Bro. Les Hutchinson, the Chief Executive of the RMTGB, read to a meeting of The St. Thomas Lodge No 4198 at Exeter on 22th April when he presented the Supreme Gold Award to the W.M, W.Bro. Walsom and the Charity Steward, W.Bro. Edwards to mark the Lodge’s magnificent achievement of raising over £50,000 for the Festival.

The letter had been received recently from the mother of two young children who needed the Trust’s support following the death of their father and was a perfect example of how we, the Freemasons of Devon, are helping those children less fortunate than our own families.  W. Bro. Les also explained the connection between the Trust and Charles Dickens which took place nearly 150 years ago – you will have to read W.Bro. Les’s speech for that information!

All who attended the meeting (which included a couple of Masons who, when they were boys, had benefitted from the help of the Trust) agreed that W.Bro. Les, who had travelled from London especially for the Meeting, gave a superb presentation which included details of what the sum of £50,000 could achieve.  The meeting was followed by a superb Festive Board with most enjoyable company.

Lodge of Good Intention No:6927

Following the presentation of a cheque to the presiding officer, Assistant Provincial Grand Master W.Bro. Peter Keaty for £2,000 towards the 2012 Festival , the W.M., W.Bro. Dr. Alan Howlett performed a faultless ceremony to install his successor, W.Bro. John Gingell who then appointed his officers in a similar exemplary manner in front of a packed Lodge.  The evening then culminated in a most convivial Festive Board and the visitors were able to head off towards home before the evening grew too late.

Conciliation Lodge No 3483 Installation

At the Conciliation Lodge No 3483 Installation held at Holsworthy on Monday 2nd April the W.M. W.Bro. Alan Stewart presented W.Bro. Colin Gale the Assistant PGM with a cheque for £1,000 towards the 2012 Devonshire Festival.  This was over and above the £20,000 they had already donated for which W.Bro. Gale presented the W.M. and the Charity Steward with the Lodge’s Grand Patron Certificate.

The WM then proceeded to install his successor W.Bro. William Pearce and the newly installed Master then invested his officers.

Both the Installing Master and the Incoming Master carried out their duties in an exemplary manner.  W.Bro. Pearce then presented the Assistant PGM with a further cheque for the PGM’s personal fund of £250. There then followed a most enjoyable Festive Board at the Holsworthy Memorial Hall.
